Von März bis Mai blühen im Ammerfeld Adonisröschen, Küchenschellen und Orchideen – und oben auf dem Setzberg wartet die Burg der Hohenberger.From March to May pheasant’s eye, pasque flowers and orchids bloom in the Ammerfeld – and up on the Setzberg the castle of the Hohenberg family awaits.
Vor der Pension links ins Dorf, bei der Bäckerei Rudolph rechts der Hauptstraße folgen. Nach dem Blumengeschäft links in die Augasse und den nächsten Weg rechts zum Bahndamm.Turn left into the village in front of the guesthouse and follow the main street to the right at Bäckerei Rudolph. After the flower shop turn left into Augasse and take the next track on the right down to the railway embankment.
Auf dem Radweg nach links, die Eisenbahn nach rechts unterqueren – und Sie erreichen die Fischteiche. An der Abzweigung mit der Infotafel Eußenheim geht es weiter nach rechts über die B 27.Follow the cycle path to the left, pass under the railway to the right – and you reach the fish ponds. At the junction with the Eußenheim information board, keep right and cross the B 27.
Vor den ersten Häusern von Aschfeld auf dem Fußweg nach rechts bis zur Maria-Hilf-Kapelle mit Infotafel. Ab hier führt die Kerztalstraße bergauf aus dem Dorf hinaus – und der Wanderweg 19 bis zur Homburg.Before the first houses of Aschfeld, take the footpath to the right up to the Maria-Hilf chapel with its information board. From here Kerztalstraße climbs out of the village – and trail “Weg 19” leads all the way to the Homburg.
An der Infotafel zum Naturschutzgebiet links, in einem großen Bogen durch das Ammerfeld. Von März bis Mai sehen Sie hier Adonisröschen, Küchenschellen, Orchideen und andere seltene Pflanzen – dazu einen schönen Blick über das Werntal nach Eußenheim.Turn left at the nature-reserve information board and swing in a wide arc through the Ammerfeld. From March to May you will find pheasant’s eye, pasque flowers, orchids and other rare plants here – plus a fine view over the Wern valley towards Eußenheim.
Weiter geht es durch eine schöne Wacholderheide. Bei einer Sitzbank an einer Wegespinne folgen Sie dem 2. Weg links (Wege 19, 1, B1).The route continues through a beautiful juniper heath. At a bench where several tracks meet, take the second path on the left (signs “Weg 19, 1, B1”).
Nach der Hochspannungsleitung an der Waldspitze dem Weg 19 vor dem Waldrand nach links folgen, dann den ersten Weg rechts in den Wald. Am Rand einer Lichtung links und mit der 19 bergab.After the power line at the tip of the wood, follow “Weg 19” to the left along the forest edge, then take the first path on the right into the trees. At the edge of a clearing turn left and follow the 19 downhill.
Über die Fahrstraße und den Parkplatz führt der Weg links am großen Kreuz vorbei zur zweitgrößten Burgruine Deutschlands. Oben gibt es eine Einkehrmöglichkeit für eine Rast.Via the access road and the car park, the path leads left past the large cross to Germany’s second-largest castle ruin. There is somewhere to stop for refreshments at the top.
Zurück zum Kreuz, ein paar Meter weiter zweigt scharf links der Eselspfad mit dem Wanderzeichen „gelbes Dreieck“ ab. Er führt steil bergab, an einer Mariengrotte und am Friedhof vorbei zur Hauptstraße an der Bushaltestelle.Back at the cross, a few metres further on the “Eselspfad” branches off sharply to the left, marked with a yellow triangle. It drops steeply downhill, passing a Marian grotto and the cemetery, to the main road at the bus stop.
Ab der Haltestelle fährt der Bus zurück. Wer weiterwandert, folgt dem Radweg an der Wern entlang – nach der „Köbleinsmühle“ durch die Wiesen und über den Fußgängersteg zurück zur Pension.The bus back leaves from the stop here. If you would rather keep walking, follow the cycle path along the river Wern – after the “Köbleinsmühle” through the meadows and over the footbridge back to the guesthouse.
Sie gehen vor der Pension links in das Dorf. Bei der Bäckerei Rudolph folgen Sie der Hauptstraße nach rechts durch das ganze Dorf. Nach dem Blumengeschäft biegen Sie links in die Augasse und den nächsten Weg rechts zum Bahndamm. Hier folgen Sie dem Radweg nach links, unterqueren die Eisenbahn nach rechts und erreichen die Fischteiche. Bei einer Abzweigung (Infotafel Eußenheim) folgen Sie dem Radweg weiter nach rechts und überqueren die B 27.In front of the guesthouse, turn left into the village. Here follow the cycle path to the left, pass under the railway to the right and reach the fish ponds. Verlassen Sie nun den Radweg und gehen links die kleine Straße weiter. Nach einer Brücke überqueren Sie die Straße und gehen vor den ersten Häusern von Aschfeld auf dem Fußweg nach rechts bis zur Maria-Hilf-Kapelle (Infotafel). Ab hier führt Sie die Kerztalstraße bergauf aus dem Dorf hinaus. Jetzt führt Sie der Wanderweg 19 bis zur Homburg.Now leave the cycle path and continue left along the small road. After a bridge, cross the road and, before the first houses of Aschfeld, take the footpath to the right up to the Maria-Hilf chapel (information board). From here Kerztalstraße leads you uphill out of the village. From now on trail “Weg 19” takes you all the way to the Homburg.

Wenn Sie im Ölgrund den kleinen Bach überquert haben, verlassen Sie den Weg 19 nach links, gehen den nächsten Wiesenweg rechts bergauf und treffen auf die Fahrstraße zur Homburg, der Sie rechts folgen. Beim Parkplatz führt Sie links der Weg am großen Kreuz vorbei zur zweitgrößten Burgruine Deutschlands. Sie können im Tal auch dem Weg 19 nach rechts folgen und erreichen die Homburg auf einem längeren Weg von der anderen Seite her.Once you have crossed the little stream in the Ölgrund, leave “Weg 19” to the left, take the next meadow track uphill to the right and meet the access road to the Homburg, which you follow to the right. Alternatively you can stay in the valley, follow the 19 to the right and reach the Homburg from the other side on a longer route.
Nach einer Rast gehen Sie zum Kreuz zurück. Ein paar Meter weiter zweigt scharf links der Eselspfad mit dem Wanderzeichen „gelbes Dreieck“ ab, der Sie zunächst steil bergab nach Gössenheim führt. Sie erreichen an einer Mariengrotte und am Friedhof vorbei die Hauptstraße an der Bushaltestelle.After a break, walk back to the cross. Wenn Sie zurück wandern wollen, so biegen Sie bei der Haltestelle von der Straße auf den Radweg ab. Nach einigen hundert Metern erreichen Sie die Umgehungsstraße. Gehen Sie nach rechts und nach der Wernbrücke nach links.If you want to walk back, turn off the road onto the cycle path at the bus stop. After a few hundred metres you reach the bypass. Turn right and, after the bridge over the Wern, left.
Sie sind nun auf dem Radweg nach Eußenheim. Nach der „Köbleinsmühle“ biegen Sie links in einen Weg ein, der Sie in die Wiesen führt und dann an der Wern entlang nach Eußenheim.* Überqueren Sie den Fluss am Fußgängersteg nach links. Sie sind nun wieder an der Infotafel und gehen rechts den bekannten Weg zurück zur Pension.You are now on the cycle path to Eußenheim. After the “Köbleinsmühle” turn left onto a track that leads into the meadows and then along the river Wern to Eußenheim.* Cross the river to the left on the footbridge. You are back at the information board – turn right and take the familiar path back to the guesthouse.
